Alejandro Ocampo to speak at Rejuvenation Startup Summit 2024

Berlin/Germany,  2023 – We are happy to announce Alejandro Ocampo, co-founder and CEO of Epiterna and Professor at the University of Lausanne, as a speaker for the Rejuvenation Startup Summit 2024.

Dr. Alejandro Ocampo has made fundamental contributions to the field of epigenetic reprogramming, as exemplified by the landmark study Ocampo et al 2016. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Miami and completed his postdoctoral studies at the Salk Institute. Ocampo currently leads his lab at the University of Lausanne, Switzerland, where he is investigating the core biological mechanisms underlying cellular reprogramming and aging.

Alejando will present his startup Epiterna, where the team is developing affordable products that can safely slow the aging process to prevent age-related diseases, delay functional decline and extend life.

“We are developing therapies to increase healthy lifespan”, Prof. Ocampo says of Epiterna: “Epiterna, which I co-founded with Kevin Perez, was born out of my 15 years as a scientist studying aging. This included work during my PhD studying aging in yeast, and later at the Salk Institute in California where I was one of the first to demonstrate how new therapeutic approaches like epigenetic reprogramming could extend the lifespan of mice. I then started my own laboratory at the University of Lausanne in Switzerland to continue studying how to slow down or reverse aging at the cellular and molecular level. Today, we are putting the science into practice at Epiterna.”
