"Longhabity"

Becomming healthy, staying healthy and extending our healthspan and lifespan is a long-term game. It requires us to build good habits and maintain a healthy mindset for the long haul.

New year’s resolutions are a great example of how we often fail to sustain healthy habits and mindset over time. We start with good intentions, but as the weeks go by, we often fall back into old patterns and habits.

Developing healthy habits and turning them into a lifestyle is not easy, but it’s essential for achieving our health and longevity goals. It requires us to be consistent, patient and resilient in the face of setbacks and challenges.

It starts with concious effort to do all the basic things that we know are good for us, especially when it comes to issues like sleep, nutrition, exercise and stress management. Over time, the things we do an a regular basis turn into habits, and then those habits become part of our identity and lifestyle.

We call this “Longhabity” — the ability to sustain healthy habits and mindset over time. It is the most basic building block of our Health & Longevity Strategy, and it’s what allows us to achieve our health and longevity goals in the long run.

James Clear has written a wonderful book called Atomic Habits, which provides practical strategies for building good habits and breaking bad ones.
